Each year, St. John Paul II Catholic High School presents the Christ the Teacher Award to an educator who models excellence in instruction and faithfully lives out the mission of our school. We are proud to announce that this year’s recipient is Mr. Derek Stull.
This award is reserved for teachers who have served at JPII for at least three years and are known for their unwavering witness to the Faith. Mr. Stull has consistently demonstrated both in and out of the classroom that he is not only a gifted teacher, but a true disciple of Christ.
Our students had much to say about Mr. Stull’s impact:
"I am nominating Mr. Stull because he reflects Christ's kindness. He is exceedingly kind in everyone he comes into contact with, and is always a light of happiness and love."
"Mr. Stull . . is reliable, kind, and an excellent leader."
"I constantly see Mr. Stull growing in his prayer life and everything he does with the thought of aligning his will to God. …. he is very virtuous and selfless."
"You can always rely on him to bring a smile or a laugh even on the worst of days."
His fellow faculty members echoed these sentiments:
"I am nominating Derek Stull because he brings zeal and passion to the variety of ways he interacts with his students here at JPII. Not only does he dedicate long hours in choir and drama performance practices, but he volunteers on retreats with STA Life Teen (in which a large number of our students are enrolled). He has shown brotherly charity and camaraderie."
"He is completely on mission. He lives Jesus Christ and seeks to facilitate an encounter with Him for His students. He is well adept at his craft and forms his students as a whole person and as excellent musicians."
We thank Mr. Stull for his service, his creativity, and the way he brings Christ to life in our school every day. Congratulations, Mr. Stull—your light shines brightly at JPII!
