Dear members of the JP2 community,
I am pleased to announce that Sister Rita Marie Kampa, O.P. has been appointed interim Assistant Principal of Academics at St. John Paul II Catholic High School.
Sister Rita Marie is well prepared for this position. She has been a teacher for 15 years and a member of the JP2 community since 2023, teaching in our History and Religion departments. Sister Rita Marie holds two Masters Degrees: a Masters in Catholic Studies from the University of St. Thomas and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from the University of Notre Dame. In addition to her academic preparation and teaching experience, Sister Rita Marie understands the loss our community is experiencing following the death of Mr. Helland. Her leadership will provide a stable transition, navigating our academic programming through this experience of profound loss, while guiding us forward.
Sister Rita Marie will continue to teach students in AP World History until they complete their AP exam in May. I have asked Dr. William Wright and Fr. Kevin to teach three of Sister Rita Marie’s current classes so that she can begin to serve as the Assistant Principal of Academics in addition to her teaching responsibilities. She will be explaining this to her students and communicating with parents regarding this plan.
In the months ahead Sister Rita Marie will gradually assume the full responsibilities of the Assistant Principal. I am happy to have her on our Management Team, and I look forward to working with her in this capacity.
